On Friday, Gov. McDonnell announced that he has reappointed Rector Dragas for another four year term. Following the “the recent unpleasantness,” as Professor Larry Sabato has dubbed the events, Gov. McDonnell has faith that Rector Dragas and President Sullivan can work together to move UVA forward. President Sullivan weighed with these comments:

“Governor McDonnell used great wisdom in appointing these members to the University’s board, and I am grateful for his understanding of the challenges facing higher education. This is a group of distinguished individuals — from higher education and technology to government and health care — who will be able to hit the ground running. Their collective expertise will be invaluable, as there is much work to be done.”

Between Gov. McDonnell, President Sullivan, Rector Dragas and the Faculty Senate, it seems that everyone is on board (no pun intended) with moving UVA forward. As Gov. McDonnell said:

“I am confident that in the years ahead the board, president, administration, donors, faculty, staff and students, and the larger UVa family across this Commonwealth, country and globe will work together with a renewed spirit of cooperation to develop solutions to the challenges facing UVa and, in fact, facing all public higher education institutions across America. The University of Virginia will lead this nation into the future, just as it has led it through the past.”
